Michael Abad-Santos
Chief Executive Officer
Michael Abad-Santos is the CEO at BridgeComm. Joining BridgeComm in 2019 as senior vice president of business development and strategy, Michael is a 20-plus year telecommunications and satellite industry veteran who will continue to drive BridgeComm’s growth as an Optical Wireless Communications leader. Over the course of Michael’s career, he has held a range of executive roles including chief commercial officer at TrustComm, and senior vice president, Americas, at LeoSat Enterprises, where he led commercial activities, strategy development and execution in the Americas region, as well as government activities worldwide. At LeoSat, he helped secure pre-series A investments of $20 million, two strategic investment partners and more than $2B in pre-launch contracts for commercial services. Michael also spent a decade at Inmarsat, holding several senior executive roles in its US and Global government divisions.
JOSEPH CAMPAGNA
Chief Operating Officer
Joe has 30 years of experience in Commercial and DoD satellite operations and ground system engineering and construction, and most recently led Global Ground Systems as CEO and Chief Engineer, focusing on ground system design, systems analysis and business development for a multitude of commercial and DoD customers. Before that, Joe was the Director of Ground Systems Engineering at Orbital Sciences (now NGIS), overseeing ground system program management, design, installation and long term support for GEO & LEO missions. Prior to Orbital, Joe was a key member of the ground system installation & test and subsequent launch of the Iridium Satellite Constellation. Joe holds Bachelor’s Degree from University of Maryland in Aerospace Engineering Management and a Leadership Certificate from University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
Paul Searcy
Chief Scientist
Mr. Searcy has extensive knowledge of laser and optical physics with a strong industrial manufacturing background in both optics and liquid crystal devices.
As Chief Scientist at BridgeComm, Mr. Searcy is responsible for both the design as well as the implementation of Liquid Crystal based non-mechanical steering devices which enable novel free space laser communication systems.
Prior to BridgeComm, Mr. Searcy led the engineering teams at Meadowlark Optics manufacturing a wide variety of polarization optics and liquid crystal devices. Some of those devices included miniature LC cells which are incorporated into commercial telecom products. He designed a family of LC tunable filters which are currently used in hyperspectral imaging and detection systems. He personally built the IRIS satellite UV filter which uses polarization-based methods and is currently collecting solar imaging data in orbit.
Mr. Searcy holds a bachelor’s degree from the California Institute of Technology and a master’s degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Tommy Romano
Vice President of Engineering
Tommy has over 28 years of business and engineering experience. Mr. Romano hold a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from San Jose State University focused on Orbital Mechanics and Space Systems Engineering. As well as a M.S. in Aerospace Engineering - Bioastronautics (Human Space Flight) from Colorado University - Boulder. Mr. Romano started his career at Lockheed Martin Space and Missiles in Sunnyvale CA with the CRSS program as a satellite AI&T engineer, testing two commercial remote sensing satellites (Ikonos) and supporting both launches at VAFB as a Satellite Launch Conductor. He continued with the Ikonos program as a Principal Satellite Engineer and Ground Station Project Manager with Space Imaging/Geoeye/DigitialGlobe. At end of the Ikonos mission Mr. Romano branched out to follow his Graduate Degree thesis in alternate food production for Mars Colonies and started an Environmentally Controlled Agriculture company in the Denver area (Infinite Harvest) in 2010 which is still providing local produce to the Denver area Market. After successfully starting a new business Mr. Romano went back to Aerospace Engineering at L3/Harris as Chief Systems Engineer for DSP programs, then onto General Atomics as Director of Space Systems Engineering, where he helped, as Technical Proposal Lead, win over $2.5B in new contracts for both companies.
David Gross
Director of Finance
David has over 30 years of experience in finance and accounting. He has held the roles of Controller, Director of Finance, and Chief Financial Officer with early stage and rapidly growing companies in a variety of industries. His responsibilities have included all aspects of financial management, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and investor relationships. He was most recently with Special Aerospace Services, an aerospace engineering consulting firm. He also held positions with ZeaChem, a biofuel company, and RGL Forensics. David began his career in public accounting as an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand and is a licensed CPA. David has an MBA in Accounting from New York University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan.
